Japanese Dance Urashima Prop Mask (Kue-men) Tamatebako Set - Antique Item

This is likely a prop mask used in the Japanese dance performance Urashima.
It was found in the storage room of my family home.

I will be lowering the price this weekend(^^)

I believe this is a prop mask that my mother, a master of Japanese dance, used when performing Urashima on stage.

It is not unused; I believe it was used several times on stage and during practice. It is an antique item from around the Showa 40s (1965-1974), but there is no major damage, and the Tamatebako (treasure box) opens properly.

The surface has a sheen, which is difficult to capture well in amateur photos, but I have taken pictures to show the scratches as much as possible, so please check them carefully. I will provide details below, but please forgive any oversights.

The lid of the box has some scratches and peeling on the corners, and the top has some dull marks from being wrapped in a furoshiki (wrapping cloth). There is also one spot with a mark where tape was applied and then removed (photo 14). When the box is closed, a small side panel is slightly warped, causing a slight protrusion (all 4 sides are in the condition shown in the photos). However, the lid closes tightly. (Photo 15)

The mask itself has some stains and dullness across the entire face, but I believe it is in good condition for its age. The beard and eyebrows are still firmly attached and in good condition, and the inside also appears to be in good condition.

The tassels do not appear to be torn and are in good condition.

I kept it as a memento, but it seems unlikely I will ever have an opportunity to use it, so I am listing it in hopes that someone who can use it will purchase it.

Please review my profile and purchase only after understanding its contents.
