Antique Italian Louis XIV Solid Brass Candlesticks – Pair

Exceptional pair of hefty antique solid brass candlesticks in the Italian Louis XIV style. Beautifully substantial, with distinctive low bulbous seamed bases raised on three petite feet, narrow baluster stems, broad drip plates and shaped candle sockets. The unusual squat proportions and heavy construction are characteristic of Continental European candlesticks of the 1800s period.  Each measures approximately 5.5” H × 4” diameter and the pair weighs approximately 3 pounds. Rich aged gold brass with wonderful untouched patina, including natural green verdigris, oxidation and surface variation developed over time. An unusual and beautifully preserved matched pair with tremendous Old World presence, equally striking on a mantel, dining table or library console. Sold as a pair.
