Vintage Early 20th C Adirondack Splint Trapper Pack Backpack Basket Primitive

Wonderful old Adirondack-style woven splint pack basket with canvas backpack straps, wooden carrying handle and metal hardware.  This is a heavily used, timeworn example with an excellent primitive appearance and lots of character. The dark woven splint body retains its old canvas carrying harness with adjustable metal hardware.  The underside has a red-painted wooden reinforcement/base. Please note that this appears to be a later repair or reinforcement rather than necessarily part of the basket's original construction. There is also adhesive/repair material visible around portions of the base.  Condition: This basket is being sold as a decorative antique/vintage collectible and not as a functional carrying basket. It has substantial age-related wear, including broken, split, loose and missing splints, particularly around the bottom; deterioration to the original woven bottom; surface wear; staining and discoloration; oxidation/rust to metal hardware; and wear, staining and fraying to the canvas straps. The bottom has been reinforced/repaired with a red-painted wooden base.  Basket is approximately 20 in height.
