The steel is 5CR15MOV, containing 0.5% carbon and 15% chromium. The high chromium content indicates excellent resistance to saltwater and acids. This knife can handle tasks that carbon steel struggles with, such as preparing acidic foods like tomatoes or vinegared dishes, and processing fish while rinsing in saltwater, all without worrying about rust. The hardness of 5CR blade steel is HRC 55-57, comparable to 1055 carbon and 6A (AUS-6) stainless steel. However, its high chromium content provides superior corrosion resistance, molybdenum enhances toughness, and vanadium improves wear resistance. The toughness is particularly noteworthy, as even JOE X, a destructive knife strength tester on YouTube who frequently breaks expensive knives, often ends his tests without being able to break knives made of 1055 steel or 5CR series stainless steel. This product features a full tang construction, visible from the butt to the tip, providing significant rigidity to the grip. At first glance, it resembles the Fallkniven F1 or C/S Master Hunter, but those familiar with outdoor gear might recognize it and think, Oh! This is... We have sharpened it using a Swedish-made sharpening machine, TORMEK T-8, to a precise and uniform angle of 19 degrees per side, totaling 38 degrees from heel to tip, which is most suitable for this size and intended use.
