Paraboot began when Remy Richard-Ponvert, a shoemaker from the Voiron region of France, returned home with a pair of rubber-covered boots he acquired in America, where he was staying. Inspired by these boots, he conceived of shoes using natural latex, directly imported from the port of Para in Brazil, as the sole material. He named his brand after this port.
As the world's only manufacturer of rubber soles, Paraboot's original rubber soles are robust, abrasion-resistant, and provide a comfortable fit. They have established the brand's position in work and outdoor footwear. Furthermore, techniques symbolic of the brand, such as the Norwegian construction method that allows for all-weather use, have earned Paraboot high international acclaim.
