Vintage Hakata Doll "Yōshun" by Haruo Made Beautiful Face Hand-Painted Hand-Colored Antique Japanese Doll
An adorable and beautiful hand-painted and hand-colored ceramic doll, estimated to be from the early Showa period to the 1950s.
A vintage Hakata Doll, over 50 years old, according to the antique dealer.
Clad in a translucent, slightly ecru hue,
with a fine-grained, pure white skin.
A plump, rich form,
as if the facial muscles were sculpted three-dimensionally and delicately,
creating an impressive facial structure.
Eyes delicately drawn with overlapping fine lines.
Gentle eyebrows, lips, and faintly flushed cheeks.
It presents a beautiful and profound expression from every angle.
A lyrical doll in the style of a Noh doll,
depicting a beautiful girl raising her sleeves in the spring sunlight.
Elegant and calming pale, soft colors.
A pale pink kimono... the surface of the coral-colored overgarment
has a texture processed to have fine irregularities like crepe.
A subdued color palette, like watercolors,
applied to unglazed pottery/plaster.
Melting into the spring sunlight atmosphere,
like plum or cherry blossoms swaying in the spring haze.
The shape is also exquisite, with smooth, flowing curves
and sharp, refined, artistic sculptural beauty.
Likely inspired by Western medicine,
with realistic detailing.

part of the work's title and the artist's name are fading.
The doll, carefully stored wrapped in paper, etc.,
is in very good condition with no cracks, chips, or stains.
The base appears to have linear scuff marks from moving the doll,
and multiple fine, shallow scratches are visible upon close inspection.
History:
With the entry of Kuroda Nagamasa into Chikuzen in 1600,
numerous artisans were gathered, who created unglazed dolls/
bisque, forming the foundation of this traditional craft.
In the latter half of the Edo period, master craftsmen such as
Masaki Sōshichi (pottery), Nakanoko, and Shirouzu were active,
leading to a flourishing period.
After the Meiji era, Hakata Dolls gained high acclaim at international
expositions like the Paris Exposition, becoming recognized as
emblematic/representative of Japonisme, and overseas exports were also developed.
I apologize for my lack of knowledge regarding the correct lineage and details.
