Shinbori / Terahira Prime S 1983 505P Solid Top Vintage
Shinbori Guitars were planned by Hiroki Shinbori for ensemble use at the Shinbori Guitar School, including alto guitars, prime guitars, and bass guitars. These were custom-made by renowned luthiers. Famous workshops include those of Mr. Yukinobu Chaii and Mr. Sumio Kurosawa in Tokyo. The Shinbori Guitar featured in this listing, crafted by Mr. Kazuyuki Terahira of Yamaki Guitar in Shinshu, a region known for its acoustic guitars, is a rare instrument that is seldom seen.
The Shinbori Prime S Guitar is the same size as a standard guitar, but the guitars made by Mr. Terahira feature a slightly smaller soundhole.
The materials used are a solid spruce top with dense grain and thickness, rosewood for the sides and back with beautiful striping, cedar for the sturdy neck, ebony-like rosewood for the fingerboard, and quarter-sawn rosewood for the bridge. The craftsmanship is exquisite, as expected from a handcrafted instrument. The neck is comfortable to hold and very easy to play. The unique acoustic combination of spruce and rosewood produces a brilliant and powerful tone.
This guitar was made in 1983, and although over 43 years have passed, it remains in good condition with few minor scratches or dents. It is currently strung with trial strings, so you can play it immediately.
