These are two Satsuma ware chakin-tsutsu (tea cloth holders).
They appear to have been brought from Japan to England in the past. I do not know the details.
While they are tea ceremony utensils, I believe they were popular as miniatures there.
The figures of women and samurai are depicted with great precision.
