Vintage Royal Gorge Colorado Highest Bridge in the World Souvenir Charm Medal 19

Vintage Royal Gorge Colorado Highest Bridge in the World Souvenir Charm Medal 1929 Vintage Royal Gorge souvenir medallion featuring a raised image of the famous suspension bridge at Cañon City, Colorado. The front reads “Highest Bridge in the World – Royal Gorge Colo.” with an integrated hanging loop. The reverse is packed with period bridge statistics, including 6,700-foot altitude, 1,260-foot total length, 880-foot main span, 18-foot roadway and the historic 1,053-foot height measurement above the Arkansas River. It concludes “Dedicated Dec. 8, 1929.” Contemporary Colorado records confirm those original specifications and the December 8, 1929 dedication date. A great small piece of Colorado travel history for a souvenir, bridge, transportation or Americana collection. The 1929 date commemorates the bridge dedication and should not be interpreted as the manufacture date of the medallion.
