Vintage Judaica Ten Commandments Wall Plaque Attributed Hen Holon Israel

There are vintage pieces you admire — and then there are pieces you open.  This extraordinary mid-century Israeli Judaica wall plaque is designed as a miniature Torah Ark, complete with a crown, twelve colorful tribal emblems and a pair of beautifully detailed Torah-scroll doors.  And those doors really open.  Swing them outward to reveal the Ten Commandments in Hebrew, turning this small decorative wall hanging into a wonderfully interactive piece of Jewish ceremonial-inspired art.  At the base, the Hebrew word שלום — SHALOM appears alongside its English translation, a timeless wish for peace, wholeness and well-being.  Crafted in richly textured brass-tone metal with jewel-like red, blue, green, black and cream enamel accents, the plaque is surrounded by symbols representing the Twelve Tribes of Israel. Above the Torah is a stylized crown — the traditional Crown of Torah.  Based upon closely matching documented examples, this piece is attributed to Hen Holon / Chen Holon, Israel, a maker particularly associated with colorful mid-century Israeli brass Judaica.
