This is a bronze lid rest (futaoki) used in tea ceremony. A lid rest is a tool used to temporarily place the lid of the tea kettle or the tea scoop.

This piece has a moderate amount of oxidation, giving it a calm impression.
Lid rests are made from various materials such as pottery, metal, and bamboo, and come in diverse shapes. Metal lid rests like the one shown in the image may be relatively uncommon.
Lid rests are an important element in creating the beauty of the tea room and are chosen according to the season and the theme of the tea gathering.

The inside of the ring is hollow, so it makes a rattling sound like a bell.

This is an old, used item.
Please understand that there may be some minor scratches and dents before purchasing.

Will be shipped in simple packaging.
