Edo period (mid to late) Mino Iron Glaze Ear Jar - Antique, Old Art, Old Tools, Old Pot, Seto, Flower Vase, Water Jar
From the mid to late Edo period, the clay has a slightly sticky texture with coarse, stone-like inclusions, suggesting a Mino origin rather than Seto. The slightly bright iron glaze and the way the glaze is applied to the shoulder might indicate an attempt to emulate the Tsubaki-de style. It bears the patina of having been used diligently and enduring through time. Upon inspection, it was not used as an oil pot or an inkstone pot, so there are no unpleasant odors.
There appear to be no cracks, but there are scuffs and wear on the rim and base from years of use. The lid is in poor condition and should be considered a mere bonus. Height approx. 20.5 cm, body diameter 19 cm, inner mouth diameter approx. 8.8 cm.
