Old Bizen Mizusashi (Water Jar) - Shige Mochi Mizusashi - Yatsuhashi Mouth - Old Bizen - Tea Ceremony Utensil - Antique Pottery
This is an antique Bizen mizusashi (freshwater jar) with a heavy, rounded shape. The powerful, unique form and the texture of the clay suggest it is quite old.
It has a scorched, blackish surface due to being fired at high temperatures, but areas with reddish and bluish tones create a beautiful patina.
The texture of the clay at the base is also noteworthy, and its dimensions make it easy to use as a mizusashi, making it an eye-catching piece for tea ceremonies and gatherings.
There are some air bubbles inside, and a small chip on the rim, which may be from the time of its creation.
The lid is not included.
