Tea Ceremony Utensil, Natsume (Tea Caddy), Hida, Natural Wood, Cylindrical Natsume, Tea Ceremony, Urasenke
This is a natsume (tea caddy) that I inherited from my grandmother.
I was told it's from Hida. It seems to have come in a box, but I disposed of the box when I moved from Hyogo to Sapporo.
It was in a magnificent paulownia wood box.
I remember the box was labeled Natsume and also had a name on it. It was tied with a luxurious green and gold cord. My grandmother has passed away, so I can't ask her for details... but my grandparents' family home was in the Hida region, so there were many products made of natural wood from Hida in our house! Things like trays and tiered boxes.
This is a cherished item inherited from my grandmother, and honestly, I'm hesitant to part with it.
However, I feel a bit uneasy knowing it's not fulfilling its purpose as a tea ceremony utensil while it's with me.
My true wish is for it to be revived as a tea utensil, used for making matcha and whisking tea.
I will pack it securely and ship it via Yu-Pack.
I sincerely hope it finds a good home and a wonderful connection!
