Toriryu-zan Te Hana Mishima Chawan - Made by Akio Yoneyama
This is a tea bowl that has been in my family home since the Showa era.
It has a warm, natural, and calming design.
It would also be lovely as a rice bowl or a small dish for side dishes.
It does not come with a dedicated box.

▼ Details of the item
This is a Hanamishima tea bowl in the Keiryu-zan style by Akio Yoneyama, a potter from Seto who studied under Living National Treasure Hajime Kato. The dark, iron-rich clay is decorated with white, soft-textured hakeme brushstrokes. Hakeme tea bowls have long been popular for tea ceremonies due to the refreshing impression created by the brushwork both inside and out. The center of the bowl features a floral pattern pressed with a wooden mold, vividly expressed with white slip. The well-formed and beautiful style of the base reflects the atmosphere of a contemporary tea pottery artist. It is a tea bowl that is easy to handle and use for preparing tea.
