Matcha Tea Bowl

This is a black, round tea bowl.

It is said to have been a gift from the artist themselves as a token of appreciation long ago. As the box and any maker's mark are missing, the artist is unknown.

It is unused, but has been stored in a sideboard for a long time.

It has a simple yet powerful texture, with hand-formed distortions and cracks that give it a strong character.

The texture of the clay fired at high temperatures and the traces of melted ash can be enjoyed as part of its aesthetic.

The uneven rim may be considered a charming feature for a tea ceremony utensil.
