Oshu Kiln is a pottery located in Okawauchi Mountain, Imari City, Saga Prefecture.
It is known as a production area for Nabeshima ware, for which the Saga domain built kilns in the Edo period to fire tribute items.
Oshu Kiln manufactures Imari and Nabeshima ware, and Okawauchi Mountain, also known as the Village of Secret Kilns, is home to many pottery producers.
Celadon is a type of porcelain with a bluish-gray glaze, and in Japan, its production began in Imari City, Saga Prefecture, when celadon ore was discovered during the Edo period. It continues to be fired as Nabeshima celadon.
The incense burner in the image exhibits characteristics found in Arita ware incense burners, particularly the Celadon Dragon Carving Three-Legged Incense Burner with its dragon motif on the lid.
Arita ware incense burners are used not only for burning incense sticks and coils but also as interior decorations for living rooms and entryways.
