Vintage MCM Wales Ceramic soup tureen Made in Japan

This is a mid century modern ceramic tureen with lid. It is a specific design featuring a cream-colored ceramic base accent with a blue and black plaid/checkered pattern. Its most distinctive features are the brass and turned wooden finial knob with on the lid and the matching wooden pegs threaded through the handles, which evoke a classic 1950s/1960s Humor Ware or novelty aesthetic popular in imported Japanese kitchenware. This is a unique and hard to find ceramic piece. Approx measurements: 10 wide 7 high Due to this piece being vintage it does have some small spots on the finish (circled in pictures). It has no cracks or crazing. It does have two very small chips (shown in pictures). Due to variations in color settings and qualities of phone/tablet/computer screens, it is possible that colors will appear differently for everyone.
