This is a Kagura mask [Hannya].

This is a mask from the Iwami Kagura style.

Kagura originally began with ancient people dancing to pray for good health and rejuvenation of the soul, and it is said that this ritual of soul-shaking gave rise to various divine performing arts.

A mold is made from clay, Japanese paper is carefully layered, a mixture of funori (seaweed glue) and gofun (oyster shell powder) is applied, and then painted.

*Persimmon tannin is used as an insect repellent.

Horse mane is used for the hair of the Kagura mask.
It will settle slightly due to gravity.
