Kagura Men's Mask No. 37 Oni

Thank you for looking.

This is a Kagura mask [Male mask].

This is a mask from the Iwami Kagura style.

Kagura originally began with ancient people dancing to pray for good health and rejuvenation of the soul, and it is said that this ritual of soul-purifying and spirit-shaking is the origin of various divine performances.

A mold is made from clay, Japanese paper is carefully layered, a mixture of gofun (oyster shell powder) is applied, and then painted.

Horse mane is used for the hair of the Kagura mask.
It will naturally adjust slightly due to gravity.
