Kagura Mask, Hariko "Shinmen" / Vintage Folk Art, Regional Toy, Mingei
I've forgotten the exact year it was made or where it was produced, but this is an old papier-mâché Kami-men (god mask) that was likely used in a local Kagura (Shinto ritual dance).
Since the base doesn't appear to be made of old Japanese paper, I don't believe it's from a very ancient period, and it seems like it might have been made in the Heisei era, but the details are unknown.
This is a vintage item purchased around 2018 at Bath House, the shop and office of Swimsuit Department in Kita-Aoyama, Tokyo.
There are almost no noticeable damages such as paint peeling or cracks, and I believe the condition is relatively good.
Dimensions: Total length 155 x width 150 x height 55mm. Please note that these are amateur measurements, so there may be some errors. A box is not included.
As I personally like vintage furniture and used clothing, I have stored this item alongside them. Therefore, please be cautious when bidding if you are particularly sensitive to odors. I do not smoke, so that aspect should not be an issue.
