Koyuuki Tsumugi is a general term for Yuki Tsumugi, Japan's oldest high-grade silk fabric with a history of approximately 1200 years dating back to the Nara period. It is characterized by its light and warm texture, woven from threads hand-spun from raw silk floss. This durable and practical textile, made using techniques of hand-spinning, hand-dyeing, and loom weaving, has been designated an Important Intangible Cultural Property of Japan and is known to last for three generations.

This fabric was stored in my parents' traditional Japanese chest of drawers.

It is a lovely bolt of fabric.
