Noh mask ornament, hanging board type
14.67 $
Description
The box is not included. This is a Noh mask decoration with a hanging board. The Noh mask and cord have age-related dullness and fading.
On the back of the Noh mask, it is written Narai Nohmen (倣能面), which refers to masks made by faithfully replicating the shape and characteristics of famous Noh masks (honmen) passed down from ancient times. The culture of utsushi (copying) refers not only to simply imitating but also to the attitude of trying to reproduce the original mask's expression, coloring, texture, and even the damage caused by aging. A red seal is also stamped, but it was not clearly legible.
