Noh mask, Komai, with paulownia wood box and certificate
The Nishimura Roppei mentioned in the signature of the accompanying inscription is thought to be a Noh mask craftsman who was active in the Showa period, or a cultural figure deeply knowledgeable about Noh mask making.
Rather than being from a lineage of widely known master craftsmen, this artist was likely highly regarded within a specific region or among Noh enthusiasts, or perhaps a cultural figure who enjoyed men-uchi (Noh mask making).
I have no knowledge of this myself, so I have pasted what came up when I searched the inscription on Google.
I hope this is of some help.
