I am sorting through belongings.
My late in-laws worked at Takashimaya.
My father-in-law worked there until his retirement.
Upon research, it was discovered that he had a gallery for Mr. Masasa Suguri (1909-2003) at Nihonbashi Takashimaya. It is believed this item was purchased there.
It is said that the carved paintings are all created in a unique style.
This uniqueness is perhaps what makes them so appealing and unlike anything else today.
I have attempted to remove mold, following the traditional lacquer technique, to a certain extent, but as I am an amateur, it is not perfect.
