It is waterproof with a gasket in the lid.
The material is plastic except for the metal parts.
Purchased about 10 years ago as surplus deadstock. Believed to be from the 1996 fiscal year order. It has been stored at home since then.

There is dirt on the top lid and one of the rear clasps is broken.
(However, the lid can be used without issue as it is secured by 6 clasps.)
As this is surplus military equipment, please understand that minor scratches and light dirt are to be expected.
