This is an elegant black lacquered tray (bon) with a beautiful floral pattern on a black background.
The gold maki-e style decoration and vibrant red flowers stand out beautifully against the black. There is also what appears to be an artist's mark (signature) in the lower left corner, adding to its luxurious feel.
