【New】Gold Maki-e Lacquer Tray - Kaguya-hime - Traditional Craft - New Year's Day - Hinamatsuri - Sweets
10.00 $
Description
This is a black lacquered tray decorated with gold maki-e.
I received two of these, and while I still use one, this item has been stored in its box.
The box is also in beautiful condition. (Photos 8, 9)
The tray itself and the maki-e parts are in beautiful condition with no scratches or peeling.
The gold is beautifully applied even to the delicate tips of the crescent moon. (Photo 2)
The motifs are the lovely Kaguya-hime and a crescent moon.
Lacquerware is one of Japan's traditional crafts.
Lacquerware is globally recognized as a cultural asset that combines practicality and artistry.
When used for entertaining or tea time, placing sweets or tea on it can change your usual mood and make you feel a bit more elegant.
It would also be wonderful for Hina-matsuri (Girls' Day) to serve arare (rice crackers) or Japanese sweets, creating a great atmosphere.
I use mine for serving sweets during Hina-matsuri, and sometimes for my favorite treats during tea time when I want a change of pace.
It's also great for creating an elegant presentation.
The rim of the tray has a red accent, enhancing its Japanese aesthetic.
