Antique Stoneware Whiskey Jug 2 Tone Brown Glaze Primitive Crock Pottery 9.5"
N/A
Antique two-tone stoneware handled jug measuring approximately 9.5 inches tall. Classic utilitarian form with a natural buff/tan stoneware body and contrasting very dark brown glazed shoulder, neck and applied loop handle. This style of stoneware jug was historically used for storing and transporting liquids such as whiskey, cider, vinegar and other household or commercial products. Because this example is unmarked, its exact original use and manufacturer are unknown. Likely dates to the late 19th to early 20th century. The jug has an appealing primitive country form with the surface variations and character associated with early utilitarian stoneware. CONDITION: Antique used condition with age-related surface wear, discoloration, scuffs, glaze wear/loss and firing/manufacturing irregularities. There is visible wear/chipping around the mouth. No maker's mark was found on the underside. Please review all photographs closely for exact condition. Photographs are considered part of the description.
