1900s–1920s Japanese Sakebin, Celadon-Glazed Flask in Hemp Sling, Nanaga City
Unbranded
A traveling sake flask that has already seen a century of thirsts. This tokkuri-style vessel was carried by farming households and village headmen through Japan's late Meiji and Taisho years (early 20th century). Glazed stoneware kept the rice wine cool, wrapped in a hemp jacket that protected the glass on rough roads. A wonderful piece of Japanese antique pottery with genuine age and character.
