Vintage‎ 1940s Shawnee Pottery Ceramic Dutch Girl Double Planter Water Carrier

This vintage ceramic planter depicts a traditional Dutch girl water carrier, styled to resemble a young woman carrying two buckets suspended at her sides. Each bucket functions as a small planter or holder, making this a charming and functional piece of folk-inspired décor. Estimated to date from the 1940s, this planter reflects the era’s fondness for European-inspired figural ceramics and everyday pastoral scenes. The hand-painted details, simple facial features, and molded dress give it a warm, storybook quality typical of mid-century decorative pottery. The glaze shows crazing throughout, consistent with age and production methods of the period. There are no chips or cracks noted. Measures approximately 6.5 tall x 7.25 wide x 3 deep. Planter openings are suitable for small plants, succulents, or dried florals. A lovely addition to cottage, farmhouse, or folk-art collections. Please see all photos, as they are part of the description and best reflect condition. Your home should tell the story of who you are, and be a collection of what you love. — Nate Berkus, The Things That Matter
