This is a suzuribako (inkstone case) believed to date from the late Edo to Meiji period, featuring extremely detailed maki-e lacquerware.
【Charm of the Work】
The surface is adorned with Fine Flower Maki-e, where chrysanthemums and autumn grasses are densely depicted in gold.
Upon opening the lid, the interior boasts a luxurious Nashiji (pear-skin) finish, showcasing the high level of craftsmanship from that era.
When light hits it, the gold powder inside shines beautifully, creating a very elegant piece.
