The new Martin Era™ strings feature a treated finish (LifeSpan®) to protect against corrosion from hand sweat, silk wrapping on the ball end to reduce wear on the bridge pinholes, and a flexible core structure for the core wire. This is truly a fusion of LifeSpan® strings, Marquis Silked strings, and Flexible Core strings. The Martin Era™ Artist Light, developed in collaboration with Jason Isbell, who released his signature model in 2025, is the only one to use traditional SP® core wire. These are 92/8 Phosphor Bronze acoustic guitar strings. The core wire is made of the highest quality tin-plated steel, and the winding wire is Phosphor Bronze, which has a higher copper content than 80/20 bronze.
