Antique Norwalk Lock Co Skeleton Key Pat’d July 12 1870 Folding Barrel Key

Pre-owned antique condition with age-related wear throughout, including scratches, scuffs, darkening, tarnish/patina and finish wear. The aged surface has been left intact and has not been heavily polished. Please review all photos carefully for exact condition, markings and measurements. Sold as pictured.  Antique Norwalk Lock Co. skeleton/folding key featuring an unusual pivoting barrel-style design and distinctive figure-eight bow.  One side is clearly marked “NORWALK LOCK CO”, while the reverse is marked “PATD. JULY 12. 1870.” The 1870 marking represents the patent date and should not be interpreted as confirmation that this individual key was manufactured that year.  The key measures approximately 3 inches long and retains an attractive naturally aged brass/bronze-tone patina. An interesting piece of early American architectural hardware for collectors of antique keys, locks, Victorian hardware, industrial décor or Norwalk Lock Co. items.
