Vintage 1970s Thai Kra Bung Handwoven Bamboo Rattan Basket Large Decor Vessel

Striking large vintage handwoven bamboo and rattan basket, believed to be a traditional Thai Kra Bung–style basket or storage vessel. From my personal collection — I have owned this basket for approximately 50 years, dating it to at least the 1970s. This is an especially beautiful example, with two distinct weaving techniques: a finely woven upper section and bold geometric basket weave below. Wrapped bamboo framework, reinforced corners and a substantial rolled rim give it wonderful architectural form. The warm, naturally aged honey-brown patina is something only decades can create. Equally beautiful empty as a sculptural object or styled with textiles, dried botanicals, magazines or other lightweight items. Perfect for interiors with Organic Modern, Coastal, Bohemian, Wabi Sabi, Japandi, British Colonial or collected eclectic décor.
