Unused French-style safari helmet, US military issue.

・This is a durable and lightweight tropical helmet that meets MIL-SPEC standards, featuring a water-repellent cotton-blend cover over a compressed wood pulp shell. It's a traditional masterpiece that has been continuously adopted by the US military with little change in design since around the World War II era.

・The safari helmet (also known as a pith helmet) is said to have originated in the 19th century when British troops stationed in India used it to protect their heads from direct sunlight. It is a helmet-shaped tropical helmet (or explorer's hat).

・This item is an American fiber helmet designed in the early 1930s as a military safari helmet. The World War II model for the US Army was produced in the 1940s.
