Description

Gold Leaf Lidded Soup Bowl
Soup Bowl
A set of a red lacquered lidded bowl and a small bowl with a gold leaf interior decorated with flowers and plants. These are called Kozui-mono Wan (small soup bowls) and are used for serving a small amount of soup at the end of a tea ceremony meal (chakaiseki).
Red Bowl: A bowl in the traditional Yamanaka lacquerware style, suitable for soup or miso soup. Gold Leaf Small Bowl: The interior is covered in gold leaf, with various seasonal flowers and plants depicted using maki-e (sprinkled gold/silver powder), creating a very elegant design. Features: Lacquerware is very light and does not conduct heat well, making it ideal for serving warm food. Precautions: Lacquerware is sensitive to sudden temperature changes, so please avoid using it in microwaves or dishwashers. Hand wash with a soft sponge.
