The bottom is intentionally finished with a rounded shape, not flat (Image 7).

Below is from the manufacturer's website:

This masterpiece is created by applying delicate designs with a fine brush of about 0.3mm, inlaying shells, and sprinkling gold onto the Zen terroir, which features a wiped lacquer finish that brings out the texture and grain of the wood.

This is a work of art that expresses Art de Terroir's concept of the connection between nature and people through the traditional Japanese craft of Makie (gold lacquer decoration).

The rim offers a unique tactile sensation characteristic of wood, and it pairs exceptionally well with the acidity of crisp white wines or light-bodied red wines. The texture of the mouthfeel tightens the impression of the wine and enhances its structure. To match the beautiful Makie design, we also recommend slowly enjoying rich Champagne.

The shape is tulip-shaped, designed to maximize the aroma of the wine. The rim is thin and luxurious, and the inner lines are designed for the liquid to flow smoothly.
It is sized to fit elegantly in one hand.
The bottom is rounded, so when placed on a table, it gently rocks like an Okiagari-koboshi (roly-poly toy), which is very charming.
As wood is a poor conductor of heat, you can hold the bowl directly in your hand and slowly enjoy the tactile feel of the lacquer along with the wine.
