Meiji-Taisho Period Black Lacquer Gold Maki-e Sake Cup Stand - Includes Wooden Box
This is a set of a black lacquered saké cup washer and its stand, dating from the Meiji to Taisho periods.
The glossy black lacquer is delicately adorned with fan-shaped ginkgo leaves and pine trees in gold maki-e, creating an elegant and festive atmosphere. The outer box is inscribed with Newly made in November, Taisho 5 and Property of Jōne Benjirō.
The saké cup washer itself is in good condition with minimal noticeable damage, and the maki-e around the rim remains beautifully intact. There are very faint scuff marks on the inside bottom, but they do not affect its use.
The stand has fine hairline cracks and repair marks running from the center of the top surface to one side, with similar linear repairs visible from the underside. There are also lines at the base of the legs that appear to be repairs (please refer to the images). It is stable and can be used practically.
The wooden box has age-related stains, scuffs, and small scratches, but the lid opens and closes without issue.
We request that this item be purchased by those who understand old lacquerware and antiques. Please be sure to check the photos for the condition.
