Antique Ko-Imari Blue and Red Earthenware Rimmed Large Plate, Edo/Meiji Period, Floral and Bird-on-Bamboo Motif, Vintage Item, Old Tool
This item has been carefully preserved for over 100 years in my family home, passed down from my great-great-grandparents.
This is a large Ko-Imari blue and red painted dish (approx. 24cm diameter).
It features a design of bamboo and birds drawn in three colors: blue, red, and green, with a floral pattern resembling peony arabesque in the center, and a ruffled rim.
It is a piece with a tasteful patina that evokes its age.
Birds flying through a bamboo forest and landscapes are delicately depicted, and it is estimated to be from the mid-to-late Edo period.
It shows little sign of use and is in beautiful condition.
