Many people use this as a substitute for koshihimo because the narrow width of the cord can be painful around the waist.

While women's Hakata-ori datejime from the Chikuzen region typically cost ¥4,000-¥5,000 or more, men's datejime are thin, very rare, and not often seen, making them valuable.

Even if you want to buy one, few kimono shops sell them.
Like women's datejime, both ends are thinner, making them easy to tie.
