Description
Beautiful antique 1920s Bohemian Art Deco art glass liqueur decanter in a rich amber topaz colorway. This piece features a distinct, multi-tiered beehive ribbed design characteristic of Czech and Bohemian glasshouses from the early 20th century. This glass does not have uranium added to it so it did not glow. It's possible that manganese was used instead. If that's the case, Many Czech and European glassworks used manganese as a clearing or stabilizing agent in their glass formulas. Manganese glass will stay completely dead under a 395nm light, but it will suddenly emit a soft, dull lime-green or yellowish glow if hit with a more sensitive 365nm UV light. I looked with my blacklight but I'm not sure which one I have to say one way or another. Either way, this is a striking piece! Condition: Good antique condition. There is one flea bite on the neck of the jar and a small one on the stopper. The flea bites do not affect the integrity of the stopper or the jar. A14-082600-am
