Rare, Impressive Height 68cm Otafuku-san Antique

A good luck charm from the late Meiji to early Taisho period. Otafuku is considered a beautiful woman with five blessings (smile, humility, modesty, health, and wisdom) and is a symbol of attracting good fortune.

*Please note that there may be slight errors due to amateur measurements.

This Otafuku-san is an antique earthenware doll that embodies the popular Nihyakusan Kōchi Mage hairstyle of the time. She has prominent lucky ears, holds a folding fan in her right hand, and her left hand is discreetly placed behind her crested haori. With a gentle smile, she welcomes customers.

There is a hole in the hair on the upper left side of the front, where you can insert hair ornaments or seasonal flowers and branches. It would be lovely to decorate it with such items, and it would also be a wonderful addition to your space for welcoming guests.

[Condition]
Due to age-related deterioration, it is listed as having scratches and dirt. However, it has also been repaired. Please judge based on the photos for details.

As this is an old item, these scratches and dirt may have deepened over time, adding a sense of depth and gravitas that comes with age. We kindly ask that those who understand this condition as-is will consider purchasing.
