Local Toy, Antique, Kyoto, Mt. Kurama, Komatora (Guardian Tiger), A-Un Tigers, First Tiger Day, Clay Doll, Folk Craft, Lucky Charm
This is an old Kurama-dera temple tiger, a clay doll.
Approximately 9.5 cm in height and 4.5 cm in width. It is inscribed with Showa 33, Hatsutora. I believe this commemorates the first tiger day in January. At Kurama-dera Temple, instead of Guardian Lion-Dog At Shinto Shrine, there are guardian tigers (a-un) protecting the main hall, which are said to ward off evil. There is some dirt.
I am also listing various other folk crafts.
I will offer a discount if you purchase multiple items.
