⭐︎ Papier-mâché Tiger ⭐︎ Premium Grade ⭐︎ Nodding Tiger ⭐︎ Children's Day Decoration, May Doll, Lucky Charm, Hariko, Tiger
This is a Hariko Tora (papier-mâché tiger), a traditional Japanese folk toy.
Because tigers are said to travel a thousand miles in a day and return in a day, symbolizing strong vitality, it has long been displayed as an auspicious item wishing for children's healthy growth, particularly during the Tango no Sekku (Children's Day) festival, often as an accessory to the Gogatuningyo (May dolls).
Nodding Head Mechanism: The body and head are made separately, allowing the head to sway gently with the slightest vibration.
Material: Made using the Hariko technique, where layers of paper are pasted together to form the shape.
Benefits: It is also imbued with meanings such as warding off evil spirits, bringing good luck, and ensuring business prosperity.
It was displayed a few times, but has been stored away for the past few years. There are some minor scuffs, but overall it is in good condition.
The size is approximately 43cm.
Measured from the rear to the tip of the nose.
The original box is included.
I would like to pass it on to someone who will display it.
