Era! Inukago (Dog Box) Antique Handmade Ceramic Toy/Doll with Wooden Box, Hina Doll Accessories
102.30 $
Description
Size (wooden box interior dimensions): Width 7 x 13, Depth 10.5 cm
This is a bit different from the typical dog-shaped dolls made in Kyoto.
Personally, I feel the face looks more like a cat than a dog.
This style is seen in papier-mâché dog dolls.
It appears to be an antique item, with fading, dirt, and scuffs due to age, but no noticeable damage.
The wooden box, finished with wooden pegs, is custom-made to fit perfectly.
There's barely any room to spare, making it a bit of a hassle to take out and put back in (lol).
Please estimate the doll size from the box's interior dimensions.
Neither the artwork itself nor the wooden box has any inscriptions of the artist or other information related to the work.
(There are no signs of erasure, etc.)
The reason for this condition is completely unknown.
This item was purchased from a dealer in the Sanyo region.
The origin and historical background are completely unknown, but we hope it catches the eye of a collector.
