Yawatama Aomori Prefecture Traditional Craft 27cm Set of 2 Lucky Charm Year of the Horse
Yawatauma are traditional wooden carved horses from the Nanbu region, centered around Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture. They have been made in this area for a long time and are considered a local folk toy and craft.
In 1997, they were designated as a Traditional Craft of Aomori Prefecture.
While there are various theories about their origin, it is believed that they originated from the area's history of producing excellent horses known as Nanbu horses. Wooden carved horses were created to wish for the healthy growth of beloved horses.
These folk crafts, filled with love, are now symbols of happiness for children and families, and are cherished as Fuku-uma (lucky horses) from Hachinohe, making them popular as souvenirs, gifts, and for various celebrations.
This is a larger size, measuring 27 cm.
Unlike the common red and black color scheme, this one features a gentle color palette of light and dark brown.
Please compare it with the extra-large red and black one for reference.
We believe this is a rather rare item.
How about this as an auspicious item for this Year of the Horse?
