1940s Cohama Silk Scarf From South Pacific Broadway Musical Theatre Memorabilia
Antique
Gorgeous Cohama scarf inspired by the 1940's Broadway Musical South Pacific staring Mary Martin. It is super light and silky, approximately 35 x 34 inches. The description is written along the bottom, and it is signed by Mary Martin. The scarf captures a vivid tropical aesthetic in bright colors that perfectly mirror the show's South Pacific setting. The colors are still very bright. During the 1940s and 1950s, South Pacific became a massive cultural phenomenon. This sparked a major wave of mid-century commercial merchandising, leading to promotional partnerships with luxury brands and department stores. Cohama produced a series of these celebratory silk scarves, each typically highlighting different song themes or imagery inspired by the theater show. This scarf is very rare, and I'm proud to own it. It's a stunning piece of the 1940s. In good vintage condition with minor wear, but it looks amazing for being over 70 years old!! See photos for condition. There's a blue dot (not sure if its an original mark) and a little thin spot, as shown in the puctures. Add a touch of elegance to your wardrobe with this stylish and timeless piece. It would be fabulous to frame!! Perfect for textile collectors and theatre memorabilia enthusiasts.
