This is an ohikizuri kimono, designed to be worn for Nihon Buyo stage performances with the hem trailing on the floor.
The striking checkered pattern of the outer fabric and the lining printed with glittering motifs on a sky blue background create a fresh and eye-catching look.
The cuffs and hem are padded with cotton, giving them a voluminous feel.
It is carefully handmade, and while I am an amateur, I believe it is in beautiful condition except for the following:
Fraying of the glittering motifs on the cuffs (Image 12)
Three small stains on the right side of the lining (Image 13)
Stains on the hem (Images 14, 15)
Fraying of the glittering motifs around the collar (Images 16, 17)
It has been stored at home for some time, but would be perfect for someone looking for practice wear or a stage costume.
