Vintage Diaguita Style Pottery Bowl 7.5” Chile Argentina Geometric Folk Art

Beautiful vintage Diaguita-style polychrome pottery bowl featuring intricate geometric decoration inspired by the traditional ceramic designs of the Diaguita culture of South America. The bowl is handcrafted from terracotta pottery with a warm reddish clay body and an earthy cream, red and dark geometric band around the exterior. The aged, matte surface and visible hand-worked texture give it wonderful rustic character. The underside retains an old paper label reading “Diaguita 400, año 600–1500,” referencing the historical Diaguita culture and period. There is also a faint hand-incised marking/signature on the base. Approximate diameter: 7.5” Condition is vintage with visible surface wear, rubbing, fading and age-related variation to the painted decoration and clay, all contributing to its authentic folk-art appearance. Please review photos carefully for condition. A striking decorative piece for a collection of South American pottery, Latin American folk art, tribal-inspired ceramics, archaeological reproduction pottery, or rustic global décor. For decorative/collectible use. Due to its age, unglazed surface and unknown original materials, I would not recommend it for serving food or liquids.
